About Catherine LaFond

Catherine is in a Runoff!

On November 5th, with 44% of the vote, we feel fantastic about getting more votes than the incumbent and an ex-city councilman. We were considered the underdog but showed them that Team LaFond was more pit bull than poodle.

To paraphrase Amelia Earhart "Making the decision is the most difficult part ... the rest is just tenacity."  Let's keep the momentum going and win the runoff on November 19th!

So … it’s more important than ever that you pledge your support, donate and sign up to volunteer! Catherine cannot do this without you, so join her team and let’s make history on November 19th!"

Eager to serve her community and living in a daily pursuit of reducing our carbon footprint, Catherine LaFond has found the perfect post to launch her public service career… as Commissioner of Charleston Water Systems.  If elected, Catherine plans to work to provide affordable and accessible clean water for the Charleston community, ensure that decisions are being made with long-term sustainability & safeguard in mind, and to innovate the office with a commitment to new technologies.

Catherine grew up in Summerville as the youngest of four children and the only girl. She attended the College of Charleston, then the University of South Carolina for Law School. In the service of furthering her education to better provide for her local community, she obtained an LL.M. in Estate Planning Law at the University Of Miami School Of Law. Upon her return to Charleston, Catherine put her hard work into action by continuing to run her own law practice, and serving her community as a volunteer (specifically with the elderly and low-income populations of Charleston). With the intent of being a community representative, Catherine's dynamic background will bring a fully-voiced perspective of the needs and wishes of all Charlestonians alike.
